What a wonderful today has been πŸ™‚ My housemate Sarah and I went to Champneys in Henlow for the day today, both having never been before and we absolutely loved it! We were up just after 7 and left not long after 8 as we were meant to be there for 9 and could stay until 6pm. Part of our deal included Β£50 credit to spend on what you wished while you were there – treatments, products etc. We had pre-booked some treatments – Thalassotherapy at 10am for half an hour (for both us of us) and then at 12 Sarah went for some kind of cellulite buster treamtment and I had Acupuncture. The Thalassotherapy happens in a salt mineral rich warm pool with jets to stimulate different parts of the body, we were offered this treatment for half price when we booked so thought it would be worth a try and it was! This was pretty much the first thing we did once we got there by the time we’d checked in. Then after this we went to Aqua Mitt at 11am in the pool (the pool was lovely). I hadn’t done this before, it was pretty much like aqua aerobics but wearing gloves (mitts) which mean more resistance. Thought this was a great workout, have to say though woke up this morning with already aching arms after yesterdays pilates so goodness knows what I’ll be like tomorrow πŸ˜‰ After this we went in the steam and dry rooms and then got ready for our next treatments. I have never had Acupuncture before but always been interested to try it. I have to say I found it a great experience and would defintely do it again. A lot of things the therapist raised with me about things he’d noticed were really interesting and defintely made me think – all good, don’t worry! I came away feeling great and really chilled out. It was then lunch which we just had an hour for due to our treatments which should be enough for anyone I know but not Sarah and I! There was some loevely food on offer and we pretty much sampled everything plus drank a huge bottle of water each – think the thalassotherapy really dehydrated us. We had booked in for a series of classes throughout the afternoon – the first one being immediately after lunch! We weren’t sure if we’d manage it or not but luckily it went OK and actually helped our lunch go down a bit probably! Here’s a list of the afternoon classes we did:

Bodysculpt – 45 mins

Indoor cycling – 45 mins

Fitness Hula Hooping – 30 mins

and Stretch and Relax – 45 mins

We manged to do all the classes and really enjoyed them all for very different reeasons! We did the Indoor Cycling as netiher of us have done it/done much of it before so thought we’d give it a try – we were the only 2 to turn up! The class was full on from the outset – I have never sweated so much in a class ever. Don’t get me wrong, it was great but seriously hard work!

We signed up for the Fitness Hula Hooping as again we’d never done it before and thought it might be fun and it really was, so much so that we’ve both come home with a hula hoop! πŸ™‚

All the instructors ran the classes really well and there were never large numbers at any of the classes we attended. The whole day was amazing from start to finsh with lovely weather too which made the scenic drive there and back very pleasant. But even having done 5 classes today I still had my 1 mile run to do when I got back. I did a quick (not speedy just short) run round the block and did 1.22 miles – it was a beautiful eveing so really enjoyable to be out in it and not at all a chore πŸ™‚

You may be a bit surprised at how we spent our day at the Spa – doing loads of exercise and not a lot of doing nothing but sitting in our robes like it seems you’re meant to do at these places. We did do a bit of that too around it all but this is the kind of stuff that makes us feel good and again it’s trying new stuff that I really love to do too so that’s what it’s all about really isn’t it – doing what you like best? (Even if sometimes it does break you a little i.e. the indoor cycling!)

Happy Father’s Day Dad. Looking forward to seeing you next weekend instead. xxx
