Today I had scheduled a long run with my good friend Julie, our second of the year. We had decided to meet at her house again but not until 2pm instead of first thing which was great for me as I went back to Leamington to see my parents and sister, and of course my cute little nephew Caolan, and stayed overnight so was able to have a lesiurely morning with my family and head back in time for our run. When I woke this morning I was especially glad we’d opted for a later run as it was blinking freezing and a thick frost everywhere! It was pretty grey and dull as I left my parents and gradually got nicer with the sun even being out and a temp of ~6.5-7 degrees Celsius by the time I reached Cambridge, all good 🙂 We ran along the river again but this time to Waterbeach and back which was great on the way out but pretty windy on the way back although looking at our splits each mile was really consistent time-wise which we were pleased with considering the wind factor. Have to say I’m not a big fan of running in the wind but today was different, I actually found it quite nice and quite refreshing for some reason, Julie said she felt similar. We clocked up 8.2 miles in just under 1 hour and 13 mins and it felt great. Really enjoyed the run and the company, not so sure I’d have had quite so good a run today had I been on my own – thanks Julie 🙂 Quite like an afternoon run, I pootled around the house for a bit doing a few jobs before a long hot soak and was in my jama’s for 6!
As well as Janathon I have also signed up for Jantastic but have only put myself down for 3 runs a week, doing Janathon for me that means running everyday if I can but my plan for Jantastic is to only count those runs over 5k so week 1 achieved!
My Dad prepared a breast of lamb for me while I was home to take back and cook – both my sister and I have very fond childhood memories of stuffed breast of lamb, it was, and still is, one of our favourite dinners so that’s what I have to look forward to tonight, it’s cooking now and smells yummy! Whilst waiting I have also started tucking into a chocolate orange from Christmas although I’ve had to put it out of sight before I polish off the whole thing!
Day 12 Stats:
