Can’t believe we’re at the end of week 3 already and I’ve been able to run everyday…so far πŸ™‚

We had out annual off site day yesterday where the department I work in (Development) all come together and do activites toghether and generally get the chance to mix with other functions within the department that you don’t always get the chance to interact with otherwise. It’s usually a very good day and this year was no exception. Everything is kept top secret and we are literally told what we’re going to have to do moments before doing it! For the morning task we were split into teams and given the task to come up with a company, product, logo to fight a zombie epidemic (!), we all had to have roles in this company and present it to the rest of the department at the end of the morning as an advert for our product or such like. There were 12 teams so you can just imagine what lengths people went to! It was a lot of fun πŸ™‚ Then in the afternoon we were put into new teams and did like a kind of treasure hunt – we were given monopoly boards using the streets of Cambridge to make them up and had to visit different places to answer questions and pick up things etc. We had to take a range of photo’s along the way specified by them for extra points – things like the whole team in a hammock etc. and pick up a number of different items such as a sock, a fake moustache etc.! The team with the most money won. It was an abolutely beautiful day weatherwise so was perfect for the task. The afternoon task started at 2 and we had to be back by 5pm. We thought we would have loads of time and even stop off for a beeer, no such luck we were lucky to make it back for 5 in the end! It was a great afternoon but have to say by the end of it my legs were killing me – felt like I’d been in the lab on my feet for 12 hours! After all that we didn’t win either or even come in the top 3 😦 ….it’s not about the winning, it’s the taking part that counts (ummm, not so sure on that one! ;-)) The day was finished off with drinks at the pub which is always good fun.

I’d booked into Pilates for 9 this morning as I had a few things to do today. It was with Hannah again as she was covering for Alice. It was a good class and felt like what my body needed after a long week. I had loads of stuff to organise posting following this as it’s a very busy birthday time and they needed to all go today to chance making it on time. I felt quite organised, had all my stuff ready for posting and thought I’d pop by the Post Office on my way to Fight Klub at 12 until I got to the Post Office to find it closed! It should be open but had a note up saying regretfully it couldn’t open today. Eek…I only had ~15 mins left at this point before Fight Klub started. I quickly dashed round to the next Post office I could think off and was lucky enough to get parked up and my parcels/cards posted and to Fight Klub on time…phew! When I got to Fight Klub though there were only 3 of us there which meant it was a pretty intense class and there was nowhere to hide! Β It was a good class though and I was suitably dripping by the end of it. Afterwards, rather than stay and do anymore I headed into work as I was down to cover the weekend lab work for this weekend and wnated to get it done sooner rather than later in case of any problems. I used the opportunity to wear-in my orthotics for a bit as I have to build up wearing them so yesterday I wore them for a couple of hours in the end, still not wearing them for running just yet, just walking. Work went relatively Ok, couple of glitches but not much I can do about. Once I was done I came back and had a Solero ice-cream in the garden as it was such a gorgeous day plus I thought I deserved it! I then cooked up some Spaghetti Bolognaise as I was starving (which many people who know me will say I always am!) and had a bit of time out while I had that. Then it was time to face the mammoth ironing task I had in front of me – about 3 weeks worth of un-ironed clothes 😦 I usually don’t mind a bit of ironing but not quite this much. Got it done and a few other bits and cycled to the gym to do my run. I will say at this point as the day had gone on my left hamstring had started to feel a little tender as had my right ankle. I wasn’t massively surprised by this due to all the walking yesterday but it could also have been due to the orthotics or maybe my morning classes as they both worked our hamstrings…I don’t know. Anyways, thought I’d see how it went on the treadmill but not overdo it. It wasn’t great…had to do it in 3 parts and still only totaled a couple of miles. Hoping if I’m sensible and take it easy it’ll all figure itself out with a bit of rest. Cycled back and had some dinner and and a couple of glasses of wine with my housemate over some Breaking Bad – nice finish to a Saturday πŸ™‚
